Saniya Kirpalani Dear Waqar
I have been across to Pakistan six times in the last year alone. And that too to Sindh. I guess I can sufficiently say, I know how the sindhis are treated and how non -hindu sindhis treat hindu sindhis. Like you rightly said, there is caution, but there is no divide. The warmth runs deep.

Deepak Perwani and Shoba are some of the non Muslim Sindhi I call my friends. Their stories of how well they have been treated despite the partition are heartwarming and have become very much a part of my understandings of Sindh. But even they feel the difference when they interact with sindhis across borders.

Also when I went into the interiors, I have seen the divide and difference. They, like you rightly pointed out have evolved at a different pace than educated and literate sindhi across the world and so if its got to be a sindhi amalgamation we cannot leave out anyone- not even the uneducated and the landlords.

Once again, you rightly pointed out....its about humanity and good deeds. The only thing that binds any human being, more than geo location, is humanity. These are the stories we need to create. In my own way, am working towards seeing the sub continent evolve sans borders. My work has been documented and criticized both in equal proportions in the Pakistani press.

But very recently someone called me "Pakistan's Indian daughter" that to me meant the world. It was not just my work, but the work of my Pakistani friends and our consistent togetherness that made this possible. So your dream of seeing sindhism transcend borders is something very plausible. Infact, I know a lot of ladies who are actively working at cross border togetherness.

But while I document this evolving legacy, the realization struck. We have to make our own history and heros. Today's history is not something written in text books, its concurrent and its going to take today's icons that will erase the memories of Jinnah and Jawaharlal.Keep your good work going. Best of luck... let me know if there is anything I can do.
