Our latest issue of Beyond Sindh features ‘Gautam Malkani’, London’s hottest author on the cover page, he took four years to write a book-seller book about British Indian teenage boys, fetching rave reviews from Time of London to New York Times.

This issue is about Sindhis from different parts of the world, who are talented in the special vocations they have chosen for themselves. These people have followed the path that may or may not reap rich profits, but they LOVE what they do. Be it painting, writing, drawing cartoons or Indian Classical dancing…you can sense their inner peace as they talk about themselves, what’s especially interesting is hearing what these diverse Sindhis think about our community.

We have Meena Makhija, a drummer in an Asian Jazz band of USA, who is also studying at a medical school so that she can go to improvised countries and help locals and Menka Purswaney, from Hong Kong, who is so in love with Kathak dancing that it is contagious.

We have from India our very own Sundeep Dharma, who is making rounds with his fashion chorography among the high society circles in India’s top fashion capital.

We have other successful Sindhi youngster like Lokesh Kirpalaney from Las Palmas, who is a cartoon artist, Navin Nagrani, from Chicago, who is real estate broker, Leena Thadani from Lagos, who is a painter, Anita Punjabi, from Accra, who is a restaurateur, Dr. Yuvraj, a spiritual healer, and Soni Gidwani, from Hong Kong who is Handbag designer.

The magazine has some more interesting articles like ‘What do Sindhi Women Want’, ‘How men work’, and ‘Dealing with a broken heart’. On spiritual front, Dina talks about ‘Death’.
For travel, we take you for a coffee treat in the interiors of Kerela and of course, most interesting of all is ‘Munjal Aiye’ ask Nicky and Nita, which is all time favorite. We also have some interesting recipes, horoscope, poet’s corner, artist view of world and many pictures of Sindhis wining and dining at parties around the world.

Our next issue will focus on joys and pains of inter-cast marriages. If you have story (or a picture) to tell about yourself or somebody you know and would love to share with other Sindhis around the world, do send me a PM with your email, my team will get in touch with you.

That sounds really nice. Is it available in Mumbai too?
It would make an interesting read as well as an interesting place to write.

Do let me know, and our blogging workshop will take some time. But we could always do it on a one-to-one basis Pushpa.

Take Care

Thanks Anita. I am always helpful to nice people……

Thanks Dinesh, I am glad you like BS, hope you get your hands on this one too…..

Yes Dinesh, there are many such Sindhi magazine there are available. During my trip, to other countries, like Spain, States, Asia and Africa, I have noticed that there are lots of magazines printed by Sindhi nationals and are read with great interest but they are usually distributed in their own zonal areas.

One of the oldest magazines (43 years in circulation) worth mentioning is called ‘Bharat Ratna’ which is published from HK and circulated and read with interest all over the world.

Bharat Ratna magazine was the brainchild of Hong Kong business tycoon, Mr. Bob N. Harilela, JP who first put it together for distribution among overseas Indians in 1963. He realized that there was a vacuum of print media aimed at the cultural needs of Overseas Indians. Fearing a neglect of Indian cultural heritage and traditions among Overseas Indians, he set out to keep alive our ancient culture even as we assimilated alien cultures in our adopted countries of residence. You can check their details at ……
http://www.bharatratna.com/

There is one more popular, nice coffee table magazine for high profile Sindhi’s called “The Sindhian’ whose managing director and editor is Raaj Lalchandani (He lives here in Bandra, Pali Hill) , this magazine gives an insight into Sindhi history, culture and people. This magazine is interesting too and it is circulated to all the Sindhis around the world. You can check their details on their site at….. http://www.thesindhian.com/

This is the directory of all the Sindhis of the world.....

Here, in one beautifully printed volume you will get the most interesting information and pictures of all that is great about the Sindhi community in India, and the World.

This book will introduce you to the greatest Sindhi artists, poets, public figures, entrepreneurs, sportspersons, and celebrities - over the last 100 years.

Yes, this book is for the Global Sindhi who is happy to be identified as a Sindhi !

This book is being written specially for all modern, educated Sindhi parents who want their children to know the ABC of Sindhi History, Culture, and Sindhi Personalities (past and present). Our focus however, is on the lives and achievements of Sindhis AFTER the Partition - so that young Sindhis can relate to it better.

In this connection, They need your help to make this book truly global in its coverage. Being based in Mumbai, it is not possible for them to know about Sindhis overseas, except indirectly, through Internet websites etc.

Only you can provide them first-hand, authentic information.

Please cooperate by sparing a few hours of your precious time, and help them make this book more useful to everyone. The kind of information they are requesting from you
will be clear from the questions below.

Questionnaire:

1. Names and brief profiles of three of the most important Sindhi achievers in your town/country?

2. Names and brief profiles of two of the most important Sindhi professionals ( like doctors, architects, scientists, sportsmen, designers, artists, etc.) in your city/country?

3. Names and brief profiles of two Sindhi women who have done some significant work in any field, and deserve to be known to the rest of the world?

Kindly send them information on the above three topics, as soon as possible, but not later than August 15, 2007.
