Karan :-)Private Reply to Karan Jethani | Feb 27, 2007 10:49 am | | re: re: re: Food | # | Karan Jethani | | After a long wait, I started getting spasms in my tummy. Can't keep it a secret anymore... KUNHE JAA BHEEA is a traditional Sindhi delicacy.
'Kunho' means an earthen pot/vessel used to cook in olden times
'Bheea' means Lotus Root Stem. (Kamal Kakdi)
So Kunhe jaa bheea is Lotus Root cooked in an earthen pot. Large sections (sausage sized) of 'Bheea' are boiled in an earthen pot with a little salt, garam masala and turmeric powder. And when they are soft, they are mixed with chaat chutneys and masalas to give it a chatpatta flavour. A simple yet very delicious and lip-smacking chaat snack.
Though the recipe I have mentioned and the method of preparation may not be correct as I have written. Also I have NOT validated the same with my elders at home. We have never tried it at my place but I have had a ready serving of the same, sold to us by someone who used to come from Ulhasnagar to Thane only to sell it. He used to get it in the same pot that he cooked it.
Any body wants to try this out, please do so at your own risk and also if it turns out to be good save some for me ;-)
Karan :-)

Yes....but to top the Chart Singar Mithai rules. We generally get it shipped to Pune from a shop @ Ulhasnagar. Private Reply to Pavan Choudhary | Mar 18, 2007 8:29 pm | | re: Food | # | Pushpa Moorjani | | Most of the Sindhi cooking comprises of five main basic principles
1) in daag 2) in sayal masalo 3) in thum tomato 4) basar tomato 5) aur ji bhaji
These are the five main methods of cooking Sindhi food. It is only the variation of different veggies that make varied dishes.

I love this sindhi food by my mother in law when she cook for family dinner...it goes like this...wish I were there and cook it for all but least I can do is to share here the recipe for anyone to try it out.
CHICKEN IN TOMATO AND ONION PASTE
Ingredient:-
One whole chicken - cut into medium pcs One kilo big red onion - chopped One kilo tomato - just ripe- chopped 5 potato cut into small cubes Big bunch of coriander leaf - chopped 3 pcs garlic - chopped 1/4 inch ginger - smashed 5 green chili - chopped 5 red chili - chopped 10 cashew nuts - chopped 2 table spoon of chicken curry masala 2 stick of cinnamon, 2 star anise(looks like a star*) 5 pcs cardamon 1 teaspoon small jeera
Cooking method :-
Marinate the chicken with salt and tumeric - 1/2 hour while waiting for the chicken to marinate , prepare the rest of the ingredients. Now heat the wok and put in oil, once the oil is hot - put chopped chili -stir one min - put all the dried spices - stir one min - then put in onion and stir until light brown then add in the tomato and cook for 10 mins until it turn to be a gravy and then put in the chicken plus +potato+ curry powder + salt+ 3/4 of the chopped coriander leaf and mix well -cook for 5 min add some water to how much you want the gravy to be.Then cook the chicken tender in a medium / small fire for 1/2 hour while in between stirring it every 5/10 min. Give it a taste for salt and spiciness’ you want it more spicy you can add more chili powder or chopped green chili.
Once the chicken is tender, gravy is thick , potato cooked and the smell makes you can't wait to eat....now wait for 1/2 hour for the chicken to be cooled and soaked in the gravy and then serve to eat ( just springkle some garam masala for the aroma). This is for you to enjoy eating the chicken in onion and tomato paste. Good to eat with plain briyani rice / jeera rice / plain rice / chapatti.
Hope you’ll will try and like the recipe.

Private Reply to Rajan Bhavnani | May 08, 2007 7:07 pm | | re: Food "Malpuro" | # | S Bhati | | During monsoon season my grandmother used to make "MALPURO" Now, my mom makes it and we all relish it.
Method:
1.) Take cardamon (elachi), anise seeds (saunf) and ground almonds and add them to wheat flour. Boil water with sugar and add this syrup to the the wheat flour so that you can make a paste.
2.) Deep fry this and immediately after frying you can take place it on a napkin so that the excess oil is absorbed. Then immediately put it milk. This way malporas will immediately absorb the milk.
The downside to this recipe is: too many calories :-(Private Reply to S Bhati | May 08, 2007 7:09 pm | | re: re: re: FOOD | # | S Bhati | | Manish,
Just take regular kichri and add a lot of water and allow it to boil. Then put some lemon juice and jera jo vagar and you're DONE!!!!!!!

Quite interesting! Keep Walking.....
The Organs of your body have their sensory touches at the bottom of your foot, if you massage it thoroughly you will find relief from aches and pains.
This is covered in great details in Acupressure studies or textbooks.
God created our body so well that he thought of even this. He made us walk so that we will always be pressing these pressure points and thus keeping these organs activated at all times.
So, keep walking... Private Reply to Sonu C | Aug 08, 2007 8:06 am | | re: re: re: re: re: FOOD | # | RAJAN ADVANI | |
