Harry Sayeen,

I am totally agree with you about the attitude of sindhis towards sindhi language. Even we sindhis living in Pakistan are facing the same challenges. Sindhis living in cities like to speak and teach urdu with their childern. I am not against learning other languages but atleast a sindhi should do some justice with their language too.In my opinion a person who is proudly calling himself sindhi but feeling shame in speaking , reading and writing is doing a big blunder. The next generation will have to pay the price. I have few suggestions that require attention and participation from my GSN friends.

1.We should agree to be proud sindhi and prove it. For example when we meet we speak in our language and so on.

2.In india where sindhis are concentrated they can demand the govt to have atleast a sindhi subject in their course curriculum. Otherwise sindhi parents give some extra time to their childern to teach them sindhi. We are doing the same here in canada. As language plays a vital role to make people understands their cultural values.

3.if possible there someone who is resourceful come forward and open a sindhi tv channel which is a very powerfull source to keep a culture alive. Till this started you can encourage people in india to watch pakistani sindhi channels like KTN,Sindh TV and Kashish channels etc.

4. A healthy communication links like this GSN group should be encouraged among both Pakistani and indian sindhis so that they can exchange their views openly. After all we all are sindhis before any Islam or Hinduism.
Because regardless of any faith we sindhis are called generation of the great Raja Dahir in Pakistan. We proudly accept that.

I believe "if there is a will there is a way". Just call ourself sindhis and dont prove anything practically is dishonesty to me. Moreover one thing I didnot understand that I am sharing with you so that someone might guide me is why we sindhis have been always influenced or impressed from other cultures or people easily? Why we are always on the defence side historically as other nations always attacked us and destroyed us. Like I read Thatta(sindh) has been destroyed and rebuild seven times in history. Are we coward nation or what? Dont we have a rich culture and civilization that we should be proud of?

In my opinion speak, read and write sindhi openly is a real sindhyat.... what is ur opinion?

Regards

Waqar
