After a long wait, I started getting spasms in my tummy. Can't keep it a secret anymore... KUNHE JAA BHEEA is a traditional Sindhi delicacy.
'Kunho' means an earthen pot/vessel used to cook in olden times
'Bheea' means Lotus Root Stem. (Kamal Kakdi)
So Kunhe jaa bheea is Lotus Root cooked in an earthen pot. Large sections (sausage sized) of 'Bheea' are boiled in an earthen pot with a little salt, garam masala and turmeric powder. And when they are soft, they are mixed with chaat chutneys and masalas to give it a chatpatta flavour. A simple yet very delicious and lip-smacking chaat snack.
Though the recipe I have mentioned and the method of preparation may not be correct as I have written. Also I have NOT validated the same with my elders at home. We have never tried it at my place but I have had a ready serving of the same, sold to us by someone who used to come from Ulhasnagar to Thane only to sell it. He used to get it in the same pot that he cooked it.
Any body wants to try this out, please do so at your own risk and also if it turns out to be good save some for me ;-)
Karan :-)
